The AirPol ‘RFPS’ Filter is a Continuously Rated Bag Filter with in-built cyclonic pre-separation of wood waste, dust and chippings and with a low maintenance cleaning system.

Unlike filters that use large air volumes of compressed air for filter bag cleaning, the ‘RFPS’ Filter provides continuous 24-hr. operation by reversing the air flow through the bags.

What this means is that fine dust, which is usually the cause of high filter pressure, is not allowed to build up in the cloth fibre. The results are enhanced cleaning of the filter bags with typical dust emission levels of less than 2.0 mg/m3.

The low filter pressure is maintained through out the life of the filter bags, and hence consistent extraction air volumes are always available for the dust removal from the production line machines. The `RFPS' Filter is designed to offer continuous operation by subjecting the filter bags to `off line' cleaning.

This is achieved by means of the filter hopper being divided into a number of sections, enabling one section to be cleaned whilst the remaining sections are filtering the dust.

This action is provided by a simple low maintenance indexing device, which is driven by a 40 mm dia compressed air cylinder, with very low compressed air usage. `Off line' cleaning also provides improved filter bag cleaning as the dust that is removed from the filter bags is not immediately `sucked' back on to adjacent bags, but is removed from the filter completely.

The in-built cyclonic separation results in the heavier particles of dust being separated by means of centrifugal action (this being similar to a well known vacuum cleaner design), before they reach the filter bags. Thus the filter bags are not required to handle heavy dust loads and the results are prolonged bag life and increased filter efficiency.

The air volume required for the reverse air flow cleaning of the filter bags is provided by the purge fan, which is also used to convey the dust to a storage facility or directly to a waste container

The filter lower section is fabricated from heavy gauge (typically 3 mm thick) mild steel plate with a painted finish. The bag enclosure consists of galvanised profile sheeting supported on a mild steel angle framework. The profile sheeting is available in all colours to BS4800.

The top section is complete with access door, platform and ladder for access to the filter bags and indexing mechanism, and filtered air outlet.

‘RFPS’ Filters can be fitted with Explosion Relief Vents where required, in accordance with the ATEX-100A Directive (see relevant info sheet).

The ‘RFPS’ Filter has a small footprint in relation to the air volume it can handle (typically 5,000 m3/hr. per m2) and can usually be accommodated in less space than conventional chain filters.
